Orientation Reflection

My expectations for this program have changed in the past two weeks.  I’ve had co-workers go through A&S programs, so I thought I had a decent grasp of what the program would entail.   I expected to learn about the legal issues of the school system, evaluation techniques, along with other aspects that were essential for leadership.  Now, it seems that those skills are only a portion of what I will learn.  After meeting other members of the cohort, I see that I have so much to learn from each of them.  I’m curious and excited about what is to come.  The technology aspect will provide me with an advantage to the future path of our schools.

I’m not positive that administration is the path I will take in my career.  I’ve coordinated an after school program, which provided me with great leadership opportunities.  I enjoyed my role, which is part of the reason I choose A&S as my second certificate for my Masters program.  I love working with children and have thought about online professional development instruction.  What I hope to accomplish through this program is the confidence and comfort to one-day move into an administrative position.

These past two weeks have been a reminder of the commitment needed to take an online course.  I will be sure that I set time aside each day, and plan out my week to complete my assignments.  I’m excited to work with my team and the rest of the cohort.  I feel like everyone is motivated and respectful.  I look forward to building relationships with each of them.

  1. You will be amazed what you learn in this cohort about from the resources, instructors and each other. This is a one of a kind program and we are glad you are a part of it. I am glad to hear that you found this orientation to be beneficial. It seems like you know what to expect as you get ready to begin the first course.
